Tatsuya had eliminated all of the puppets. Tsukasa confirmed this in a room separate from the command center. But no surveillance cameras were installed in the safe room, so she couldn’t tell what the Yotsuba heiress and her escort were doing while they were inside. Now that the intruders were eliminated, Tsukasa assumed the girls would open the door and come out. That would be her chance. She checked the magic line between her room and the others.

The connection was good.

She may have used ancient magic to turn the Stardust soldiers into puppets, but she was not by nature a user of unorthodox magic that interfered with the human psyche. She was a Tooyama family magician from Lab Ten. That meant she had been bestowed with area magic to create virtual constructs, specifically magical barriers.

Even if she established a magic link between herself and another person, Tsukasa could not use that link to read minds. Nor could she relay perception information or directly manipulate the will of another person. All she could do was tell where someone was, identifying the coordinates of her target based on the information dimension.

But that was more than enough for a member of the Tooyama family. If they needed material information, such as sound or visuals, they could use a remote device. The Intelligence Department’s spy equipment wasn’t weak enough that a few obstructions or jamming would render it useless.

Knowing a target’s information dimension coordinates was the key to activating their magic. That sort of thing could not be accessed with electronic devices. There were rumors about magicians and magic support systems that could link visual information to information dimension coordinates. But Tsukasa had doubts about rumors like that.

The targeting assistance systems of specialized CADs were designed to enhance information within the range of its user’s own senses. Someone who possessed Elemental Sight, which directly observed the information dimension, may be able to determine target coordinates based purely on information data. But there were limits to this ability. The tangible maximum distance that humans could perceive, for example. Infinite expanses only existed as abstract concepts. Herself aside, Tsukasa believed nobody should be capable of focusing their consciousness on specific information bodies (eidos) within the information dimension (Idea) as they would have to be deeply broken people to even stand a chance at such a feat.

It wasn’t inconvenient for her to think this way. The magic bestowed upon the Tooyama family and the role Tsukasa had been assigned did not require technology that aimed at targets in extremely remote locations via visual information alone. Nor was it required for the current mission at hand.

She focused her attention on the images from the hacked surveillance cameras to support her loyal subordinates.
